About us (in case you haven't heard enough)
What better way to honour this beautiful breed than by providing them with a warm, safe home-from-home, right? At Book 'N' Bark, we believe that if we can make just one Golden smile that little bit more – not that that’s possible the way they're always full-mouth-grinning at us (when they’re not gulping food) – then it’s a total win-win. So what say you to no more cold, stressy, bark-but-not-booknbarky- boarding houses. No more dogs-alone-until-someone-pops-in-once-a-day. No more pricey petstays where pups are left alone during work hours. No more narrowing down your holidays to dog-friendly Airbnbs (where you're sharing a bedroom with the host and his harem of cats). Instead, you and your Goldie get a specialist of sorts (in the loosest sense of the word, because we are as much a dog 'specialist' as we are one of quantum mechanics) – a sort of sacred golden-arch of the non-Macca’s kind. A home from home, in other words – one you can leave your dog in over and over again, as often as you like, safe in the knowledge that he’ll be loved and cared for... and possibly handed back over to you without you needing to purchase the services of a #winning legal team. 🐾

Here are some things we feel passionately about at Book 'N'Bark. If any hit a chord with you, please feel free to check out the petitions (links provided) and maybe even give them a sign. No pressure, though.
PETITION A: RED'S DEAD, BABY
Did you know that approximately 70,000
to 100,000 insects are crushed to produce just ONE POUND (0.45 kg) of red food colourant, otherwise known as carmine,
cochineal, crimson lake, 120, E120 or Natural Red 4 – a colour you can get from heaps of other sources, by the way? And did you know it’s often marketed as ‘natural’, so it sounds more appealing, even though it's a pretty bloodthirsty way of going about making something look pretty in pink-ish? And did you know that there are some angelic Goldens out there who wouldn't hurt, or eat, a fly? To honour this beautiful trait, please sign our petition – which includes asking Arnott's to stop using E120 in their TimTams. [LINK] www.change.org/red-is-dead-baby
PETITION B: A HUMAN-EAT-DOG WORLD
We all know about the dog-eating thing. (No, not the Goldens-eating-everything-in- sight thing but the other one.) Dogs should be on couches not cages, and trying to eat off your plate rather than being on your plate! Please add your voices here. [LINK] www.change.org/dogs-on-couches
PETITION C: FACE TO LAUNCH A THOUSAND PETITIONS
See this (bottom right)? No, it's not a Golden, but it's almost as cute. It's a Bombyx mori, otherwise known as a silkworm moth, the larvae of which is boiled to death to produce silk. It takes approximately 2,500 to 5,000 silkworm cocoons to produce one pound
(0.45 kg) of raw silk, with about 1,000
to 2,000 cocoons needed for a single
silk garment. Now imagine all those
born-again Bombyxes landing on
your Golden's giant landing-pad
nose instead. Aww. [LINK www.change.org/mothface-to-

In memoriam
The Doghouse this is not (sadly, because how awesome is that show, eh). So there’s no need for us here at Book 'N' Bark to launch into The Sob Story 🎻.. Suffice it to say, once a Golden Retriever parent, always a Golden Retriever parent – and that applies to each and every one of your Goldens who come to stay with us, too. They are part of your family, and by dint of being part of this magical, kind, affectionate, intelligent, gorgeous and smiling breed, they will be part of ours forever, too, no matter how short – or long – they stay with us.
Dedicated to and in honour of 'our only sunshine', the light of our lives and heart of our home,
Zephy, 24 April 2015-30 October 2025
